WHAT IS EIFA
An event to observe, reflect on and describe the world
The Asturias International Photojournalism Festival (EIFA) was established as a forum for dialogue between imagery, journalism, culture and the public.
The Asturias International Photojournalism Festival is a cultural, educational and professional platform dedicated to the image, visual journalism and a humanistic perspective.
Having begun in 2006 and entering a new phase in 2025, the Asturias Photojournalism Festival provides, from within the region, a space for reflection, training and dialogue on documentary photography, human rights, memory, social justice and press freedom.
Its annual event is merely the most visible aspect of work that takes place throughout the year across the region: in classrooms, cultural venues, social organisations and communities, where images come to life and become memory, conversation and critical awareness.
OUR PERSPECTIVE
We believe in photography that not only informs, but also challenges. An image capable of raising questions, fostering empathy, sparking conversations and bringing to light realities that are often overlooked by the media.

Photography exhibitions in cultural and urban venues to bring photojournalism closer to the public.

Practical training in visual ethics, AI applied to imagery, photobooks, digital editing and documentary storytelling.
Films and discussions.
Films, documentaries and audiovisual works relating to memory, conflicts, social justice and visual communication.
Educational events.
Meetings with schools, universities and students to explore the use of imagery as a tool for learning and critical awareness.
Round-table discussions and debates.
Conversations with professionals from the fields of journalism, photography, international aid, documentary film and human rights.
Humanist Photography Award.
The event hosted the presentation ceremony for the 2025 Humanist Photography Award, which was presented to Diego Ibarra Sánchez at a ceremony attended by more than 130 people.
